Space to Train

  • Does the thought of walking into a gym get you in a cold sweat?

You know you should take up exercise but you don’t really know where to start. Gyms can be intimidating places for the uninitiated.

I understand those feelings from the inside. You feel like you have no right to be in the gym. You worry about getting stuck in one of the gym machines.

Then there are the feelings of shame for getting this unhealthy.

Training is meant to be an empowering thing. I will never, never, never use shame or humiliation to ‘help’ you get fitter. Read my bio to see why!

I’m passionate about helping women break through the things that keep them stuck in unhealthy lifestyles and seeing them reach their goals.


I came to the Fitness party late, in my fifties. Before that I was very overweight and very unfit. As my weight decreased and my fitness increased people started asking me if I could help them. I decided to train to be a personal trainer and I haven’t looked back.

In 2015 I was obese (very obese), unfit and to be honest life was a bit of a struggle. Because of this I understand from the inside what it means to be very overweight. I know how it feels to buy clothes that cover up the bits you want to hide and why you wear trousers instead of skirts. When you do wear a dress you have to wear tights! I get it!

My journey to health and fitness began when I went on holiday to The Lake District. I love hill walking but my weight and fitness were a big obstacle. Being in such a beautiful place but not being able to do the things I love made me sad, it also made me face up to the fact that my weight and lack of fitness was affecting my choices and health. Because of getting healthier I am able to run around with my grandchildren instead of watching from the sidelines.

I didn’t go from overweight to fit and healthy overnight. I took tiny steps that helped. I love helping people break down their goals into achievable chunks. It all starts with the first step.
